rqmicro AG, based in Schlieren, Switzerland, is a life science and tech startup founded in 2013 as a spin-off of ETH Zurich with the vision of protecting consumers worldwide from microbial contamination and enabling sustainable water management.

rqmicro's first commercial test enables the rapid detection of Legionella bacteria in water. Legionellosis (Legionnaires’ disease) is a severe respiratory disease. Further products enable the rapid detection of E. coli bacteria and the determination of total microbial load (intact cell count, total viable count) in water.
