The sensitivity of the rqmicro method is 10 – 40 fold higher compared to ISO 11731 (n ≥ 3, bars SD). Results were obtained under laboratory conditions. Depending on the sample type, this value may change.

Real time monitoring of a disinfection process at 70 °C

Viable but non-culturable (VBNC) bacteria refer to bacteria that are in a state of low metabolic activity. They do not divide, but are alive and have the ability to regain infectivity once resuscitated.

  • The rqmicro method reveals that after a disinfection process viable Legionella cells are potentially still present after 60 minutes.
  • The cultivation method does not detect VBNC bacteria as VBNC cells are unable to grow on agar.

Cross reactivity experiments with the rqmicro® Legionella pneumophila SG1 Kit using various SG1 strains portray high specificity, a complete coverage of SG1 and no cross reactivity with other bacterial cells. Additional cross reactivity experiments are ongoing.
